Open Spaces
Cristian Mitrani (Argentina–Belgium)
has been developing a singular photographic practice for over five decades. His work explores cities, natural landscapes, sacred sites, museums, and other spaces open to human experience, unfolding as a sensitive cartography of the contemporary world.
He has forged a distinctive visual language rooted in experimental and alternative photographic processes, often layering multiple exposures to create images that are vibrant, stratified, and poetic. His works move beyond mere documentation, opening instead a field of resonance between memory, movement, and perception.
A tireless traveler, Mitrani’s photographs examine the visible and invisible thresholds that shape our urban, natural, spiritual, and cultural environments. Each work embodies a fertile tension between the ephemeral and the permanent, and between reality and its poetic transfiguration.
His commitment extends beyond the artistic sphere: a significant share of the proceeds from his work is dedicated to NGOs active in the fields of food, education, and health, embedding his practice within an ethics of responsibility and sharing.
Cristian Mitrani has participated in numerous exhibitions across Europe and the United States, in cities such as Madrid, New York, Miami, Paris, and Washington. Most recently, his work was presented at the Muisca Gallery in Paris, situating his photographic vision within diverse and transnational artistic dialogues.
